Qualitative Face Fit Testing

Qualitative Face Fit Testing

Why carry out a face fit test?

Where respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is used as a control measure under occupational health and safety legislation, it is vital that the selected RPE is adequate and suitable.

To ensure the selected RPE offers adequate protection for individual wearers, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, The Control of Asbestos Regulations and the Control of Lead at Work Regulations and the supporting approved codes of practice stipulate that tight-fitting RPE must be fit tested as part of the se;ection process. This will help ensure that inadequate fitting face pieces are not selected for use.

B & P Health and Safety Management Consultants Ltd offer the following fit testing services:

  • Selection of the correct RPE based upon the hazardous substances involved and the environment worked in
  • Qualitative fit testing for tight fitting filtering face pieces (disposable masks) and half masks in line with the requirements of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Operational Circular OC 282/28
  • Issue of individual face fit test reports and certificates.
