Local Exhaust Ventilation Testing

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations requires that Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems should be well maintained, thoroughly examined and tested at regular intervals. This will ensure that such systems adequately control substances hazardous to health.

Frequency of examination and testing is specified in regulation as a requirement every 14 months for LEV systems, with increased frequencies for LEVs used in line with specific processes.

Thorough examination and testing of an LEV system represents a regular audit of the performance of the system, and should show whether or not the plant is performing correctly and effectively. Records of thorough examination and testing have to be kept for at least five years.

B & P Health and Safety Management Consultants Ltd can provide a local exhaust ventilation thorough examination and testing service, to support the client in complying with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.
