COSHH risk assessment and Air Monitoring

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations

The principle aim of the control of substances hazardous health regulations is to ensure that exposure to hazardous substances is either eliminated or adequately controlled during the life cycle of use in a work activity, to ensure the health of employees and others.

Importantly, the COSHH regulations require an employer who is liable to expose any employees to any substance hazardous to health to have made a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks created by that work to the health of his/her employees. The purpose of this assessment is to ensure suitable control measures are implemented for use of the hazardous substances and that personnel understand the risks of the substances used and are competent to use the control measures provided.
